MEET THE TEAM: Jeff Hatch

Jeff Hatch grew up on Cape Cod and got his start in carpentry through the Cape Cod Technical High School carpentry program. He went on to attend the North Bennet Street School in Boston, studying Preservation Carpentry—where he developed a deep respect for time-honored building methods and the value of fine craftsmanship.

NBSS’s two-year program blends contemporary residential construction with a strong foundation in pre-20th century New England building traditions. Jeff trained in a wide range of preservation techniques, including stabilizing endangered structures, preserving architectural details, and recreating historic design elements with accuracy and care.

Drawn to traditional New England homes, Jeff moved to Nantucket, where he lived and worked for 16 years alongside some of the island’s most skilled old-school carpenters. In 1999, he started his own building company, later partnering with another builder. Over the next decade, they specialized in historic restoration and renovation—working on homes dating as far back as 1720.

Jeff is proud to be a traditional carpenter and believes in doing things the right way. Years in the field have reinforced the importance of problem-solving, collaboration, and high standards—because restoring and renovating a beautiful home is always a team effort, and the finished work should reflect that.

Today, Jeff lives and works in Central Connecticut and is a valued member of the Heartwood Renovations team.
